In this case, the reaction is:Cu2+ aq  + 2e-  Cu s The standard reduction potential of Cu2+ aq  is given as +0.34 V. Since the reaction is a reduction reaction  gaining electrons , the standard electrode potential of the reaction will be the same as the standard reduction potential:E Cu2+/Cu  = +0.34 VThe standard electrode potential of the hydrogen electrode is 0.00 V, but it is not involved in this reaction, so it does not affect the calculation. The standard electrode potential of the given reaction is +0.34 V.
