The bond enthalpy of a chlorine molecule  Cl2  is equal to the bond dissociation energy of one chlorine-chlorine bond. Since the bond dissociation energy of one Cl-Cl bond is given as 242 kJ/mol, the bond enthalpy of a chlorine molecule  Cl2  is also 242 kJ/mol.
