The contact hypothesis is more likely to be effective when the contact is voluntary, involves equal status between groups, occurs in an environment that fosters cooperation, and involves exposure to multiple members of the out-group.

Design a chemical reactor for the production of 1000 kg per hour of ammonia through the Haber process, given a feedstock gas composition of nitrogen and hydrogen in a 3:1 molar ratio, and operating conditions of 450°C at 100 bar pressure. Determine the reactor size and necessary input flow rates of reactants, and identify any key design considerations that need to be taken into account.

How can a chemistry student prepare phenylalanine from benzyl chloride and ammonia? What is the step-by-step process involved in the synthesis and what are the necessary reagents and conditions required for the reaction to take place? How can the purity of the obtained phenylalanine be determined and what are the potential sources of error in the experiment?

Calculate the standard enthalpy change (in kJ/mol) for the reaction of hydrochloric acid (HCl) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) to form sodium chloride (NaCl) and water (H2O), given the following balanced chemical equation:HCl (aq) + NaOH (aq) → NaCl (aq) + H2O (l)Assume the reaction takes place under standard conditions (298 K and 1 atm pressure) and that all solutions have a concentration of 1.0 M. The standard enthalpies of formation for HCl (aq), NaOH (aq), NaCl (aq), and H2O (l) are -92.31 kJ/mol, -469.14 kJ/mol, -407.76 kJ/mol, and -285.83 kJ/mol, respectively.

Calculate the standard enthalpy change for the precipitation reaction between aqueous silver nitrate (AgNO3) and aqueous sodium chloride (NaCl) to form solid silver chloride (AgCl) and aqueous sodium nitrate (NaNO3), given the following balanced chemical equation:AgNO3 (aq) + NaCl (aq) → AgCl (s) + NaNO3 (aq) Assume that the reaction takes place under standard conditions (25°C and 1 atm) and that all solutions are at 1 M concentration.
