What is the difference between a one-tailed and a two-tailed hypothesis?

A one-tailed hypothesis makes a directional prediction  e.g. one group will have a higher score than the other , while a two-tailed hypothesis does not make a directional prediction  e.g. there will be a difference between the groups, but not which group will have the higher score .
