Vicarious reinforcement, or the observation of others being reinforced for their behaviour, can influence our own behaviour. By observing someone else being rewarded for a particular behaviour, we can learn that this behaviour is desirable and increase the chance of behaving in that way ourselves. For example, observing a coworker receive praise for their hard work may motivate us to work harder.
