Operant conditioning principles can be used in a variety of practical settings, such as in education  providing positive feedback and reinforcement for desired behaviours , parenting  using positive reinforcement to encourage good behaviour, or negative reinforcement to discourage bad behaviour , and in therapy  using positive reinforcement to encourage desired behaviours and replace maladaptive ones .
