Both the Milgram obedience experiment and the Stanford prison experiment demonstrated the powerful influence of social roles on human behavior. However, while Milgram's study examined the willingness of individuals to follow authority commands to cause harm, the Stanford prison study explored the psychological effects of power dynamics and social roles in a simulated prison environment.
